HHC (or hexahydrocannabinol) dosage is a very new concept. HHC has around 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (or “THC) and usually around 25mg of hexahydrocannabinol per dosage. The type of product that you consume can vary in terms of the milligrams per dosage. On average, most users suggest taking one “gummy” to start (when consuming edibles). One dropper of a tincture (when it's oils or similar products). Or three “puffs” from a vape cartridge (when it's a vaporizer pen or "vape pen").
Key takeaways
- On Average Dosages: One gummy, one dropper of a tincture, or three ‘puffs’ of a vape cartridge.
- Low-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.05 to find your dosage in milligrams.
- Medium-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.1 to find your dosage in milligrams.
- High-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.2 to find your dosage in milligrams.
- Beginner Users Dosage: 5 to 12mg of HHC.
- Intermediate Users Dosage: 12 to 30mg of HHC.
- Frequent Users Dosage: 30 to 60mg+ of HHC.
How much HHC should I take? (Dosage)
It’s always important to start with a “half dose” of any new product that you’re consuming, especially when it’s your first time. It’s always easier to increase your dosage by consuming more rather than the other way around.
Different methods of consuming HHC affect how much of it your body can actually use, which is called bioavailability. Think of bioavailability as the amount of a substance your body can "grab onto" and put to use. Higher bioavailability means you get more effects from the same amount.
When you inhale HHC through vaping or dabbing, your body can use about 30-40% of it. With oils or tinctures, it's around 20-30%, and with edibles, it's about 10-20%. We usually don't consider bioavailability when making our products because the differences are usually small.
But if you're using edibles or less-bioavailable products, you might need a higher dose to get the same effects you'd get from inhaling or using oils. Conversely, if you're using inhaling or oils, you might want to lower your dose to avoid getting too much.
Here’s how much you should take based on your experience level with HHC:
- Beginner Users: The recommended HHC dose is 5 to 12mg.
- Intermediate Users: The recommended HHC dose is 12 to 30mg.
- Experienced Users: The recommended HHC dose is 30 to 60mg+.
General HHC dosage calculations by body weight
Here are the general HHC dosage calculations (in milligrams) based on your body weight:
- Low-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.05 to find your dosage in milligrams.
- Medium-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.1 to find your dosage in milligrams.
- High-Strength Dosage: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.2 to find your dosage in milligrams.
HHC edible dosages
Bioavailability: 10-20%
On average, the recreational user of HHC recommends taking “one gummy” or “one half of a gummy” to start (based on your body weight) before feeling the effects of the HHC. The onset time of an HHC edible is around 40 minutes to 60 minutes.
The milligrams of dosage can be used for the following ailments:
- For Sleep: we suggest a low-strength dose of 0.5mg HHC per 10 pounds of body weight.
- For Pain Relief: we recommend a medium-strength dose of 1mg HHC per 10 pounds of body weight.
- For Recreational Purposes: the choice is yours. Initially, a low-strength dose of 0.5mg HHC per 10 pounds of body weight is suggested.
HHC oils/tinctures dosages
Bioavailability: 20-30%
Oils and tinctures will be able to get dosed down to “the drop.” This means that you should refer to the product that you’ve purchased and look at the average “dose” or “serving” amount and determine the appropriate milligram of usage based on your body weight (refer to the chart below for more information on this).
HHC vaporizers (or “vape pens”)
Bioavailability: 30-40%
If you’re consuming a vaporizer pen, always refer to the amount of milligrams of HHC per “serving” that’s on the packaging. In general, you’ll want to take anywhere from one to three “puffs” or “drags” from the vaporizer pen.
Let’s presume you’re a newer user, if that’s the case—take one puff, wait 10-minutes, and then continue to take more if you’re not feeling the onset of the effects. Vaporizer pens should have the shortest onset time.
HHC dabs/distillates
Bioavailability: 30-40%
If you’re consuming a “dab” or a distillate, it’s the same recommended dosage as the vaporizer pens. Try to take one puff of the rig and then wait 10-minutes. Since the distillate is going to be a far more direct application of Hexahydrocannabinol to the bloodstream, the onset of the effects are very short.

Can you take “too much” HHC?
There is no “lethal dose” of HHC. Although, someone who maybe consumed too much HHC for their body weight might start to feel the negative side effects more.
That would include:
- Anxiety
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Increased appetite
- Insomnia
- Paranoia
- Rapid heart rate
- Red eyes
In some cases vomiting may occur. If nausea is starting to set in, you should stop consuming the product immediately.
